The Santa Barbara Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants was chartered over 40 years ago on May 1, 1963. Our members are
financial managers and management accountants who are involved in decision making, support, planning, and control functions in organizations on California's Central Coast.

Our mission is to increase the value and promote the integrity of the CMA ® designation, contribute to the ongoing success and professional development of our members, and promote employer, governmental and public trust in the IMA.

Our commitment is to the highest ethical practices, to diverse international networking and to empowering professional excellence.

The IMA is the leading professional organization devoted exclusively to management accounting and financial management. As set forth in its mission and vision statements, its goals are to help members develop both personally and professionally, by means of education, certification, and association with other business professionals.

  • New CMA Exam Format On November 24, 2009, ICMA announced a change to the format and curriculum of the CMA exam program, beginning May 1, 2010. To ensure that the CMA remains the most appropriate designation for accountants and financial professionals in business, the Institute of Certified Management Accountants (ICMA) announced a change to the format and curriculum of the CMA exam program. Beginning May 1, 2010, the CMA exam will consist of a two-part format focusing on the critical skills of financial planning, analysis, control and decision support. Testing for the current four-part CMA exam format will continue through December 31, 2010.
